You know what sucks? Selling cars you really like out of necessity. I’ve done it too much in the past few years. But, I’ve got to defray the cost of our newly acquired (and totally kickass) Sienna so it’s time to move on. Sigh.

If any Oppos are interested, I can provide details. Know this: IT’S A STICK!

Yikes. We are considering what to do with ours. Necessity is calling on us to get a minivan, and my wife’s 6 spd Passat Wagon is at stake. We both love that car. I’m thinking about just getting a cheap beater minivan and parking it, and keep driving the wagon unless we know in advance that we need to carry 6-7.

Why did you buy a van if you already have a practical car

Probably becuase vans are hyper-practicle.

Because small wagons aren’t even remotely practical compared to a minivan, especially when people carrying is the goal.

The one my dad tested drived once had the Awd And manual option. But it had 6 owners and was crashed twice on the east coast.

Neato-torpedo. All it needs is a supercharger :D

I have a customer with a blue, manual AWD 325Xit for sale here in CA if he’s still interested. It has 200k and some needs, but it’s pretty neat. It was in last week, she’d probably take $5k.

Because my 2nd child is due any minute, and my wife always has family in the car too. We put 2 car seats in the wagon before we got the van, and the lack of space was laughable. This car was fantastic with 1 kid, but our needs are changing.

I was looking at Passat wagons before I got this, they have more space too! With 2 car seats in this, there is zero extra space, and forget putting a double BOB stroller in it. I love the car, but the van is what works now. I’d keep this and drive it myself if I could, but I need the money for the van loan and I honestly prefer driving beaters.

Had to google where SLO was. Is Wikipedia accurate?

San Luis Obispo is an affluent city in the U.S. state of California, located roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on the Central Coast.

Sounds lovely.

2003 325iT, 160k miles, manual, sport & premium packages (wood trim), Koni adjustables, OZ wheels, fairly new tires, have original wheels, original springs, uninstalled Turner short shifter, and factory Thule bike racks. Thinking about asking $6.5k, Oppo deal $6k for now. Located central coast California.

Sort of. They say that because Oprah called it the “Happiest Place in America” and a lot of rich developers, wineries, and LA/SF transplants are eating it up. It’s still pretty agricultural in most areas.

I feel your pain! I’ve got an ‘03 325iT 5-speed too. Also two kids, plus a dog. For daily use or short trips, it’s enough room for the 4 of us and the dog. But more than a few bags and we’re out of space. I’m considering putting my rooftop skibox on year-round, side by side with my bike racks that I use all the time. Just to delay the minivan a little longer, though, let’s be honest.

Price seems in the right neighborhood. I paid a little more for mine, but it was over a year ago and the mileage is a good bit lower. It needed nothing, and came with two sets of wheels.

Nah it’s not that bad. Plus there are tax incentives for having kids which means more monies for car parts.

It’s home ownership that will drain your wallet.

Will the tax incentives offset all of the other costs that children incur? Will it give you back the time lost having to deal with children throughout your life?

Shipping isn’t that bad. My family shipped a car from the midwest to central CA for around $900. Of course, you have to make sure the car is worth the total price. I think this one is.

Nice. I failed to mention mine’s an xi. But I drive in the snow a lot, and my own driveway is enough of a challenge - not that it’s steep, but my father is our plow-guy. So, he’s not always punctual but hey, he’s free. So many days in the winter I need to get out of the driveway through lots of unplowed snow.

Anyway, it’s been a great “family” car but yeah it’s getting kinda tight. Ironically, I sold a 2001 suburban when I bought my first 325 wagon. I might go that route again, it was so nice having that cavernous space, and that was pre-kids! But, no manual. I know minivans aren’t manual either. But actually I grew up driving manual chrysler minivans. Before center consoles were the size of barnyard animals, you could order a manual and they’d just cut a little hole in the floor for the shifter. Neato!
